Terms of Service
Plain-English rules. The English version is the authoritative one. Last updated: 2026-08-24
1. What this site is. DayZ Index ("the Index", "we") is a community directory for DayZ: a server browser with measured player counts, showcases for mods and services, creator profiles, reviews and a forum. Using the site means you accept these terms. We are not affiliated with Bohemia Interactive; DayZ is their trademark.
2. Accounts. Sign-in is through Steam or Discord only - we never see or store a password. You are responsible for what happens through your account. We may suspend or remove accounts that break these terms. An account must always keep at least one linked sign-in identity.
3. Your content. Reviews, forum posts, listings, images and clips you upload stay yours. By posting them you give the Index a non-exclusive right to display them on the site and in previews of it. You must own or have permission for anything you upload. We may remove content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, off-topic spam, malware, or that impersonates someone else.
4. Reviews must be real. The whole point of the Index is trust. Do not post fake reviews, trade reviews, review your own work through another account, or pressure people into ratings. Reviews require both Steam and Discord linked, and owners cannot review their own listings. We remove manipulated reviews and may flag or ban the accounts behind them.
5. Server listings and measured data. Server entries are built from publicly broadcast game-server data (the same Steam queries the DayZ launcher makes). Player counts are measured, not self-reported. Servers detected advertising padded player counts are flagged and hidden from rankings until they behave like a real population. Claiming a server requires proving control of its config.
6. Rankings are never for sale. Positions in the server rankings, mod ratings and creator reputation come only from measured numbers and verified member reviews. Nobody can pay to move up, and we do not sell placement inside any ranked list. Ever.
7. Sponsored listings. The Index may offer clearly labeled sponsored slots - promotion aimed at newly opened or struggling servers that need their first players, not at drowning out the rankings. Sponsored slots are always marked "Sponsored", shown separately from measured rankings, and never change a server's position, rating, player numbers or trust flags. Buying one does not exempt a server from spoof detection or reviews.
8. Marketplace listings. Mod showcases and service listings are adverts by their creators. The Index is not a party to any deal: payment, delivery, licensing and refunds happen directly between you and the creator. Review histories are there to help you judge who to work with - use them.
9. What you may not do. No attacks on the site or its data (scraping is fine through the public API, hammering it is not), no attempts to manipulate rankings or trust scores, no uploading of malicious files, no harvesting other members' data, no content that breaks the law of your country or ours.
10. Takedowns. If content on the Index infringes your rights (copyright, trademark, impersonation), contact us with a link and proof and we will handle it quickly.
11. No warranty. The site is provided as-is. Measured data can lag or be wrong; servers lie; mods break. We are not liable for losses from using the site, to the extent the law allows. Nothing here is professional advice.
12. Changes. We may update these terms; the date above changes when we do. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new version. If a change is significant we will say so on the site.
13. Contact. Questions, takedowns, appeals: reach the team on the Forum or via the Discord linked from server and creator pages run by the site staff.
How rankings work
